Folkston, GA
Hello! Happy Monday y'all!! This week has been super busy and lots of fun! I'm starting to get settled into my new area so that's been good.
found a friend in Folkston
On wednesday we had MLC (mission leadership conference) in Jacksonville. All the Sister Training Leaders, Zone Leaders, and District Leaders came together to be trained by President Lee on how to use the new technology we've received. We talked a lot about using Facebook for missionary work and received further guidelines and clarification on how to use it. We also set up our new smart phones and have been using them for the past few days. It is so weird having a smart phone after over a year of using an old brick phone haha! It's been awesome to see how much this technology has blessed our work in just the last week and I'm super excited for the rest of the mission to get their new phones and to be able to use Facebook after Zone Conference this upcoming week!
Mission Leaders and our smart phones
After MLC we had an exchange with the JAX East STLs and I was able to go to Hendricks with Sister Stepherson! We lived in the same apartment complex back when I was serving in Arlington so it was fun to get to see her again and catch up a bit! It was also so nice to be back in Jacksonville for the day! I miss it so much!! We taught a Book of Mormon class that night then taught their investigator David! It was super fun :)
When you are in Georgia but...?🍑💰😢
We were able to spend some time working in Georgia this week which was super exciting for me haha! Leaving the state of Florida for the first time on my mission was a strange feeling but I seriously love Georgia so much!! We went tracting and tried a few former investigators in this tiny town called Folkston. The people are super sweet and have thick southern accents and it was great. Our Branch President also lives in Folkston and we went there Sunday night to have dinner with them!
Life is peachy in Georgia!!
The highlight of my week was getting to watch General Conference! I love conference because I always hear exactly what I need and I am able to receive promptings from the spirit for all the different questions I have or things I might be struggling with. It made my heart sad that we didn't get to hear from President Monson :/ but I know all the speakers were inspired and taught us what Heavenly Father wanted! All the talks were so great and I can't wait to go back and read and study them more. It was super neat to hear all the talks about service and the personal shout out to Florida and the helping hands cleanup after Hurricane Irma! I'm so greatful I was able to participate in that!! One of my favorite talks was from Elder Holland and I wanted to share a quote from it with y'all. He said
"I am thankful that God is merciful and a peacemaker, because I need mercy, and the world needs peace."
I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father that created a perfect plan so that I can be forgiven when I mess up or fall short (which happens a ton). I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can be cleansed from all our sins so that we can live with God and our families for eternity. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His Divine Son!
I love y'all! Have a blessed week!!<3

Elder Gilland sent me home with some "Da Bomb" in case I ever needed it lol
-Weekly Moss Moment-
So we have a senior missionary couple in our ward, the Gillands, and they take really good care of us. They usually have us over for dinner every Sunday night and this week Sister Gilland offered to feed us lunch in between conference sessions on Saturday. When we got there Elder Gilland pulled out these hot sauce bottles he ordered online and tried to convince us and the elders to try some. One wasn't too hot and we didn't have much problem with it. The other was called "Da Bomb" and I was pretty hesitant. We all barely dipped a toothpick into the sauce and then put it in our mouth. HOLY COW THAT STUFF WAS HOT! The elders were sweating and yelling and I was downing cantaloupe as fast as I could in an effort to cool off my mouth. Sister Doxey was the only smart one who didn't try it haha! Elder Gilland really got a kick out of it though and I wouldn't be surprised if he had more spicy stuff for us to try next time we go over haha!
