Oneta’s son Jay. He's wild but so cute!! He reminds me a lot of my
nephew Jackson! He loves red trucks and dinosaurs.
Hello
everyone!!
Yesterday I hit 100
days of being a missionary, which is crazy!! I'm not sure how the time is
flying by so fast!!! It's also starting to get cold here which I was not
prepared for lol! We teach a lot of lessons outside and most evenings we are
like shivering. I even wore a scarf one night. What the heck?
This week we were
able to work a lot with our investigator Karli! She's a young mom and is really
excited about the church! We were able to see her twice and the first lesson we
talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and read some with her. She said she
loves it and looks forward to reading it every night, which is a miracle. She
has so much faith it's awesome. We went and taught her again on Thursday and we
were able to bring some awesome members with us! Karli loved them and really
opened up to them! Before we could start the lesson she told us she had been
praying about baptism and got the strong feeling she should be baptized as soon
as possible so she can go to the temple to do work for her family. WE WERE SO
EXCITED! We will be working with her a lot these next few weeks to make sure
she's ready but I love her so much!!
We had about 30min left of
pday and didn't know what to do so we went and got soda from sonic and walked
around bed bath and beyond lol. Turns out they have wifi and massage chairs so
we were very happy. Hahahaha
Another awesome
investigator we have right now is named Ginny. She used to meet with
missionaries a lot a few years ago and we saw her teaching record and decided
to go visit her to see if she was interested in meeting again and she ended up
being the sweetest lady ever!!! she invited us back and we've had two lessons
with her since! She has the cutest kids that are 2 and 5 so we love going over
to her house haha. Last time we were over her son Daniel (the 2yr old) came
into the kitchen and said "I love you mommy, and I loves yous twos
too" and pointed at me and sister f...our hearts melted hahaha but we are
so excited to teach her! She has been reading the Book of Mormon and really
just has a strong desire to strengthen her faith in Christ! We are going over
Wednesday night and she is feeding us dinner so we are really excited!
Hopefully we can get her to come to church soon :)
Sister f and a less active church member named Sister Vandyke. She is
such a hoot and we LOVE visiting her!! It took about 20min but Sister f
convinced her to take a picture hahaha
One last
investigator story.... I don't know if y'all remember Thomasina...she's the
super sweet 92yr old lady I mentioned visiting a few emails ago and I sent a
picture of us with her...well we went and saw her this week and she is reading
the Book of Mormon and agreed to be baptized. 92 years old and she is a
progressing...it's insane! MIRACLES!! We are going back to teach her this week
so hopefully she keeps reading and keeps progressing!
Wednesday night we
had the opportunity to have dinner with a less active member named Sister
Edwards. We had been trying to visit her for a really long time and finally
this week it worked out. As soon as we got there and walked into her house I
was transported back to NM. I'm not sure how but her house seriously smelled
just like my moms house (a mix of essential oils and natural grocers) and I
never wanted to leave hahaha! She made us really yummy curry soup and told us
all about her travels around the world. She's basically the coolest person ever
and we are going back this week to make gluten free pie for thanksgiving! It's
so fun finding new investigators and teaching people but it's also SO fun to
bond with the members! Sister Edwards is like my mission mom
"Sister let's take a funny picture!!"
Last night we went
over to visit one of our recent converts named Oneta. We helped her with some
of her family history and then she taught us how to make authentic Jamaican
stew. It was sooo yummy but she always gives us HUGE servings...sister f and I
always joke that once we eat half of what's on our plate we have to start
saying silent prayers that we will be able to keep eating haha! It's a struggle
sometimes! We love spending time with Oneta though!! She teaches us Jamacain
hymns and how to cook and she has the cutest son named Jay! While we were waiting
for the food to finish cooking I was sitting on the floor playing with jay and
he was like jumping all over me and kicking me and trying to like wrestle and
he's crazy haha but then at the end of the night when we were washing the
dishes he came up and wrapped his arms around my legs and said "I love
this sister" hahaha it was so cute!!!
Today for pday we
are making cookies and bread that we can deliver throughout the week to people
that don't have family or anyone to celebrate thanksgiving with. It'll be a
really fun service project and we also get to eat some yummy food so it'll be a
good time!!
I'm so thankful for
all of you and the love and support I've received! I'm thankful for my family.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to be a missionary. I'm thankful for my Savior
Jesus Christ!! I hope y'all have an awesome thanksgiving! eat some extra
pumpkin pie for me
Have a blessed
week!!
xoxo
Sister Morrow
The 30 min of exercise time in the morning has really been
making a difference (Sister f laughed at this for a solid 15min)
We had a turkey bowl with our
district and it was super fun! I jumped up to grab the ball and I came down and
landed on top of sister f and we fell down to the ground hahaha it was pretty
funny
We also got matching district
shirts!! Wahooo St. Augustine district is the best!!!
Our serious team picture. Football is serious
I was talking mom's sugar cookies up to everyone all week, luckily they turned out awesome and everyone loved them. BEST COOKIES IN THE WORLD!
