It's a Girl 👶🏼

BUNNIES! RIP to my favorite bunny Judy that I had before my mission

Hello everyone!
I hope y'all had an awesome week! We were super busy here in Arlington! Saturday night we had our transfer call and we found out Sister B will be headed to Ocala and I'll be training a fresh new missionary from the MTC (aka having a child) I'm super excited but also pretty nervous! If anyone has training tips send them my way haha! Wednesday I'll head to Mandarin for a trainer trainee meeting and I'll find out who my companion is then. I'm sure she will be amazing!

We still haven't gotten our car back and probably won't get it back until Wednesday or Thursday so we've been doing lots of walking and biking which has been nice! The weather has been beautiful all week, which was a blessing, and we are able to talk to so many people out on the street. Our ward members are awesome too and have been so willing to come out with us to lessons and give us rides when we need it. They're the best.
For Valentine's Day our recent convert John gave us some chocolate but we were more interested in stealing his random wooden duck

We were able to do some fun service this week! We went and volunteered at a place called Celestial Farms. A member in the Dunn Ave ward owns it and they take in rescue animals and give them the proper care they need. They also run a daycare there and they teach the kids how to take care of the animals and how to grow gardens and stuff like that. It's super cool! We got to see horses, goats, donkeys, pigs, turkeys, and some adorable bunnies. We helped with some cleanup, which was an adventure haha! The bunnies were my favorite part. On Saturday we also got to help with a huge food distribution put on by farmshare (an organization we volunteer for a lot) they were passing out food and planning on feeding over a thousand families. The people were all lined up in this big parking lot and they were given a number and a grocery cart and they made their way down this big line of tables full of grocery bags of food. They left with carts full of different fruits, vegetables, bread, and canned food. It was so awesome to see how thankful they all were and it was so worth it. We worked mostly behind the scenes bagging more food and restocking the tables but it was such a cool experience!

We had an amazing miracle with one of our new investigators Vicky! Her granddaughter recently got baptized and it dating a member. They both live out in California but Vicky talks with them a lot. She has been having some hard times and has had a lot of questions for her granddaughter. She's been watching Mormon Messages online and reading Conference quotes on Facebook and has loved everything she's seen so her granddaughters boyfriend somehow found our Bishops contact information and told him he needed to send the missionaries over ASAP because Vicky wants to be baptized. We got in contact with her last week and set up a lesson for Friday. She was so amazing. She loved everything we taught and was so excited to read the Book of Mormon. She said she really wants to be baptized because she feels like she needs to be. She kept telling us how she knew she was a child of God and just wants to make him happy. We left the lesson and were in shock at how prepared she was! We are planning on seeing her twice this upcoming week and hopefully she will be coming to church as well. We are super excited about it and it was such a miracle.
Companion skirt swap lol! In Florida every ward party is beach themed. They had a dessert auction and the ward members kept buying things and then giving it to us and the elders haha! We now have a ridiculous amount of chocolate cake in our fridge.

It's crazy another 6 weeks has already flown by. I wish I could just slow down mission time. I love Arlington and I love being a missionary! I hope we keep seeing miracles as we work hard and talk with everyone!

I love y'all! Have a blessed week! <33

Our cupcake cake!! Feel free to hire us for any upcoming baby showers or other special events
-Weekly Moss Moment-

GThis week we were helping the Webers get ready for a baby shower they were throwing for their daughter. We helped make all kinds of decorations and we helped Brother Weber make a whale cupcake cake. It turned out super cute and we were super proud of it! While we were still in the process he put me in charge of making the buttercream. His recipe called for 6 sticks of Crisco and 3 bags of powdered sugar. Craziness. So I put in all the Crisco and some vanilla and started with the powdered sugar. I had put a whole bag in and started the mixer. It wasn't working for some reason so I started examining it when all of a sudden it turns on full blast and sends powdered sugar all over the kitchen. Brother Weber told me not to worry and that it happens all the time. He said the trick is to add a little water to the bowl so it doesn't go everywhere. He added some water, turned the mixer on, and the same thing happened to him hahaha the kitchen was a mess but it was funny

Shamrock Shakes and Spiritual Stuff

Shammy Shakes

Hello Everyone!

I hope y'all had a good week! It was nice and toasty here in Florida. It hit 90° one day which was crazy! It was cold and rainy the next day so typical Florida winter hahaha

This week was super busy. We had district Meeting and then interviews with President Lee, trade offs, and lots of crazy lessons!

Tuesday we had trade offs with our STLs and I got to stay in Arlington with Sister Smith! She's so sweet and we had a really fun time! We were doing our golden hour that night and we had some crazy miracles. We were walking down the street and we saw this older lady sitting outside. We walked over to her and told her who we were and asked if we could share our message with her. She told us she was feeling sick and was just waiting for her grandkids to get off the bus. She didn't seem very interested at first but we kept trying and just talking with her and we ended up sharing most of the restoration! We prayed with her right there on the street corner and she invited us back to share more this week! It was awesome! After talking with her we were headed back the other direction and saw a lady that was sweeping her drive way. We went up and started talking to her and she told us her name was Liz. We asked if we could share our message with her and she said we could and asked us to pray for her before starting (which was awesome) and then we shared the whole restoration right there with her in her garage. She told us she had gone to an LDS fireside 6 years ago before moving to Florida where they talked all about the Book of Mormon. She said she felt it was scripture and really felt the spirit at the fireside. We gave her another copy and she invited us to come back in a few days so she could learn more. She was SO prepared to hear our lesson and it was a miracle filled golden hour!

Trade offs with Sister Smith :)

We were doing service as a district this week and we went and ran to McDonalds for lunch. When we got there we found out the Shamrock Shakes are back which was basically a highlight for the week. I'm not going to admit how many shakes sister b and I have had this week. We also spent a TON of time visiting members and LA this week. A lot of them were struggling with health and family issues so it was good to get to see them and lift their spirits. We had a really frustrating lesson with one of our investigators named Mary. It just seems like she forgets everything we teach her and just get defensive and yells at me like every lesson. We love her so much but aren't sure how to help her progress. We had a member with us and after we left we all just sat in the car like "what even just happened???" Shellie (this member who is amazing) took us to get shamrock shakes to make up for the wacky lesson hahaha
We went and got our hair cut by one of our favorite ward member’s last pday, Sister Dains! She served her mission here in JAX and just moved back a few months ago!

We helped a ward members daughter move out of her house, organized a different members closet, raked another members yard, and bagged food for farmshare! It was a service filled week, which was super fun.

Tomorrow I'm giving a training in district Meeting about Heavenly Father so I've been thinking about it a lot and studying different scriptures and conference talks and I am just so thankful to know that God knows me and he loves me. He hears my prayers and cares about what I do and who I become. I found this really awesome scripture for my training in 2 Nephi 2:24 which says
"But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things"
I'm glad I don't have to have it all figured out I just have to trust in Gods plan. He'll take care of everything. I love being a missionary so much and I love getting to share this amazing message with people everyday!!

I love y'all!! Have a blessed week <33

Some of our favorite members the Webers gave us these cute stuffed animals for Valentine's Day!
-Weekly Moss Moment-

This week we were visiting one of our favorite kooks/less actives named Lisa. We sat down in her living room and said a prayer before starting the lesson. Sister b was saying the prayer and halfway through Lisa leaned across sister Bs lap, grabbed her bag off her shoulder, pulled out her hand sanitizer and started using it. Sister B and I both opened our eyes during the prayer, looked at each other, tried not to laugh, and then continued on with the prayer and lesson. Haha I guess she couldn't wait. The moss really gets me sometimes
We made a fruit pizza for Valentine's Day! It was yummy and we shared it with the YSA sisters that live in our complex

SHAWARMA SATURDAY

Pictorial evidence we found the EZ Grill

Hello everyone!! I hope everyone had a great week! We had a crazy busy week here in Arlington!

Last pday we went back to the zoo and it was SO fun! We got to FEED THE STINGRAYS! Yep. It was crazy. We put these little anchovies between our fingers and the stingray came and sucked it up like a vacuum cleaner. It was wild. We also got to feed birds and they came and hopped right on your hand! At one point I was feeding my little bird and he was just chillin on my hand when this other bird swooped in out of nowhere and landed on me and tried to steal the nectar. It was terrifying but I survived. The JAX Zoo is 10/10 and I def recommend it
The zookeeper called me a Komodo dragon whisperer

Tuesday was insane. We had to drive all the way to Dunn Ave for district Meeting which is about 30 miles round trip which took the last of our miles for the month. We decided to work from the church the rest of the day so we took food and walked from there and went and saw some people. We also had a few lessons planned for that evening at the church. Our first lesson showed up 45 min late(bleh) and we had a crazy talk where he rambled on and on and on (probably the moss) about how he thinks we are all actually just solidified paint that has figured out how to talk and do other stuff. Major kook hahaha so we didn't even get to teach much, which was frustrating. After his lesson we had a Skype lesson planned with one of our investigators! It was our first time and it was kind of weird getting used to it but it was really awesome! They are really emphasizing us using our iPads in our work so we are encouraged to do more Skype lesson with our investigators and even Skype members into the lessons if they can't make it in person. Crazy right? Technology is awesome

Later in the week we had been contacting people for a couple hours and had just finished a super strange lesson with one of our less active members. We were dead so we decided to head to a nearby gas station to take a slurpie break. We were cutting through the McDonalds parking lot when a lady ran right into our car. She was backing up and wasn't looking and rammed right into the back end. No one was hurt which is a blessing but our tiny slurpie break turned into about 2hrs of filling out paper work and talking with the mission office. We might be without a car for the next little while which will be a bummer. Yay for bikes!

Shawarma <333

Saturday we were out on the other side of town contacting people and decided to go out somewhere for lunch rather than driving all the way home. The elders always rant and rave about this restaurant in their area called the "EZ grill" and this mysterious food called shawarma. Seriously like 85% of our conversations with them are about it. They go every week and call is shawarma Saturday hahaha so we decided to hit up the EZ grill and try some...it was SO GOOD! It was a blessing and we are totally converted to shawarma Saturday now hahaha

Well I think that's about it for this week! We are teaching so many amazing people and meeting so many kooks and I'm loving every second of being a missionary! I hope everyone is happy and well out in the real world!

I love y'all! Have a blessed week <3

One morning we were praying before leaving the apartment. We were standing by the door and I was saying the prayer when all of a sudden I feel the car keys un across my neck.  Sister B was trying to Kill me mid prayer. She's such a kook haha!

ZOO PART 2

Zoo Part 1

Hi everyone!

We had a really good week here in Arlington!

Last Monday we went to the Jacksonville Zoo with the other sisters in our zone and it was SO fun! It was pretty chilly out but other than that it was perfect. We got to pet stingrays, watch a tiger get trained (it was like 5ft away from us!! ahh), and they had a sloth. I cried. So fun! Tuesday night we were with one of our ward members and we were telling her about our trip to the zoo. She told us we should have told her we were going because she has a membership so she can get people in for free and that she would be willing to take us sometime so...we are going back to the zoo today haha! I'm pretty excited. 2 weeks in a row

We got a referral this week from the Elders for a guy named Mike. They met him at the gas station and he told them he had met with missionaries about 5 years ago and had come to church a few times. He said he hadn't come to church recently because he thought he had to be invited. We heard all this and we were pretty excited because he sounded golden! We went and met with him and he was so sweet. He's had some rough times but seems really sincere about wanting to strengthen his relationship with God. Apparently he hitchhiked from Florida to Oregon in 23 days. Wowza! He had some pretty interesting stories.... we told him he should write a book haha! We invited him to church and he came!!!! We were so excited! We are going back to teach him this upcoming week

A shady picture of the sloth I saw. He was sleeping so hopefully I can get a better picture today

We also had a really good lesson with our investigator Ben this week. We were able to bring a member named Olivia with us (She served her mission here in Jacksonville and just recently moved back after getting married and she's awesome) we read from the Book of Mormon with him and we were all able to share our testimonies of how it's blessed our lives and brought us closer to Christ. We asked him if he'd been reading and praying and he really opened up and told us that after our last lesson he had been reading and really felt the spirit and he knew it was true. We were frustrated because we had felt like we'd just hit a wall with him and weren't sure what to do to help him progress and then we realized we don't really do anything. When they are reading and praying the Holy Ghost teaches them and pretty much does everything for us haha

Sunday at church we were heading into our third hour meeting. We were combined and were talking about the ward goals for the year. We stepped out to grab something when Sister Dains pulled us aside. She told us that a lady and her daughter walked in just now saying they wanted to pay tithes. She wasn't sure what to tell her so she just invited her into the meeting. We went up to try to sit next to her so we could introduce ourselves but she told us she needed to take her daughter to the bathroom so we went and showed them where it was. We were able to talk with her and she told us her name was Beth and her daughter was Josie. Said she is Christian but hasn't attended any church recently. She told us she has been struggling so she wanted to pay tithes so that she could receive extra blessings. She was crying as she was telling us this. We explained that this wasn't the normal service and invited her to come back next week at 11am. She agreed and started walking away. We were in shock but I felt impressed to go after her and ask for her number so we could come see her this upcoming week. I explained how our purpose is to strengthen people's faith and help them come closer to Jesus Christ. She had tears in her eyes and she said that she thought that was something she could really use in her life right now. Sometimes Heavenly Father really just drops people into our laps as missionaries and it was a total miracle right in the middle of church.

I love missionary work because crazy miracles happen all the time and everyday is different. Heavenly Father is preparing people to hear our message we just have to have the faith to find them all!!!

I love y'all! Have a blessed week <3

-Weekly Moss Moments-

Last night we were out trying to contact some less active members we were assigned for visiting teaching. We were at an apartment complex in the Elders area and had been wandering around for about 30min trying to find a building that didn't exist. We were cold and frustrated and decided to just walk back to the car. All of a sudden across the parking lot we saw the elders walking out of an appointment. We were trying to be sneaky and scare them so we went behind this tree to hide...but it was dark and there were these huge pine cones that I stepped on and tripped and Sister B got stabbed by a stick so we were both pretty loud and they totally heard us coming hahaha high moss=low stealth
